The CNs’ motto “Let’s scale up solutions!” is targeted at interested parties from all over the world. The CN address ICCA’s central question: How can vertical and horizontal cooperation lead to the intensification and dissemination of climate mitigation and adaptation activities? The objective of the CN is to raise awareness for this topic among local practitioners and decision-makers by learning from tried and tested success stories.
The ICCA and CN build on the successful event in Hanover 2015, during which the ICCA and CN were jointly organised for the first time. From Hanover important impulses were sent to policymakers, which were integrated into the international debate at the UN Climate Conference in Paris.
Located in the heart of Heidelberg’s lively historic district, the CN’s interactive programme provides room for exchange between local authorities, civil society and companies, who actively foster climate mitigation and adaptation measures. With the prominent location at the university square we want to engage the public and call attention to the CN’s cause. Citizens will have the opportunity to actively contribute their perspectives on climate action via participatory elements. Especially young people are invited to participate with creative ideas and innovative suggestions – they will be given their own platform, the Youth Climate Summit prior to the CN.
