In 2011, Franz Untersteller took up office as Minister of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector of Baden-Württemberg. He was born in Saarland and studied landscape planning at the Nuertingen-Geislingen University. Before becoming a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament (Landtag) in 2006, Untersteller worked as a parliamentary adviser for the Green Party parliamentary group in the Landtag and for the Oeko-Institut e.V. (Institute for Applied Ecology). Minister Untersteller is Catholic, married and has two adult children.
