Leshan Moodliar is passionate and energetic engineer that works for eThekwini Municipality in the city of Durban, South Africa. After graduating with a BSc engineering degree 13 years ago, Leshan has focused his time and energy in specialising in the field of Electricity Pricing and Renewable Strategies.
While South Africa recovers from an energy constraint, Leshan has capitalised on the need to promote renewable energy in a cost reflective and efficient manner whilst balancing the social dynamic of providing basic services to the citizens. Leshan has represented the city of Durban on numerous international platforms and continues to extract and build on this experience to uplift the renewable energy sector within the country.
Leshan is a key representative on national forums within the electricity supply industry of South Africa and provides strategic direction for local municipalities in dealing with electricity supply issues. Other than keeping the lights on within the city, Leshan makes his appearance on national TV and radio to share information / debate various issues dealing with electricity.
Leshan has the ambition to drive the city to promote renewable energy technologies and to integrate higher levels of quality green power to the grid. This is an enormous task which this young engineer chooses to accept as a challenge rather than a barrier.
